Guests and lecturer was Jelena Milic, member of Forum for International relations- the European Movement in Serbia and Director of the Centre for Euro-Atlantic Studies. Jelena Milic spoke about current situation in Serbia, European perspective for Serbia, globalisation and other issues regarding EU integration. Guest answered questions from the audience. April 1, 2008 | Representatives of Lingua Kraljevo took part in the final Conference on National Youth Strategy held on 31st March in Belgrade. Ministry of Youth and Sport and participants in the process of preparation of the National Youth Strategy presented and adopted final version of the National Youth Strategy. The mini fair was held after the Conference in the lobby of the Sava Centre, where about 50 NGOs presented their work. Four Lingua representatives presented youth programs Initiative, Sense and Consciousness (ISAC) and program Imagine Serbia, financially supported by Norwegian People’s Aid SEE. March 27, 2008 | PUBLIC DISCUSSION ABOUT THE LEVEL OF DEVELOPMENT OF CIVIL SOCIETY IN SERBIA was held at the Lingua Centre on March, 27. The event was organised within the youth program Initiative Sense and Conscience.
Jasmina Kuka and Zoran Markovic members of the National Index Team presented results of first holistic empirical study of Civil Society in Serbia: The CIVICUS Civil Society Index (ICD) in Serbia. March 12, 2008 | The public debate “In Memory of Djindic” was held on March 10, in the premises of the Lingua Centre. The guest lecturer was Mr Zoran Zivkovic, a former Prime Minister of Serbia, also a long-term, closest associate and friend of Mr Zoran Djindjic. The debate was organised within the youth program Initiative, Sense and Conscience. Mr Zivkovic spoke about Mr Djindjic and his work, as well as about the current situation in the country. March 3, 2008 | Regional meeting “NPA youth partner CSOs exchange” was held in Ohrid from February 29-March 02, 2008. The meeting objectives were to gather youth civil society organizations (CSOs) from the region for exchange of experiences and to present achievements within the 2007 projects implemented in cooperation with NPA. Participants were representatives of 12 NGOs from the region. February 19, 2008 | On Tuesday, February 19, around 21:30h, a group of several tenths Kraljevo’s neo-fascists stoned the Lingua Centre and broke several windows in the building. Around 21:45h the director of NGO Lingua received a phone call from Kraljevo MUP and was informed that several windows were broken in the Lingua Centre and that the duty service of MUP was on the spot conducting a crime scene investigation. After 15 minutes the manger of Lingua arrived at the Lingua Centre and there were several tenths of policemen. Few windows have been broken in the building, in the lobby of the Women’s workshop, where is the gallery of ethno works of IDPs and refugee women, Lingua Centre beneficiaries. In conversation with the police, the director of Lingua hasn’t found out who were the perpetrators. Text

February 15, 2008 | Julie BIRO, Project Officer for Central and Eastern Europe of the French Comité catholique contre la faim et pour le developpement (CCFD), was in visit to Forum NGOs- Kraljevo. During visit to Kraljevo, the guest from France was informing about the program that Forum NGOs have been realizing financially supported by CCFD, in period of 1999 - 2008. Project Coordinators of Forum NGOs, acquainted the CCFD representative with the current social-economic situation in Central Serbia region, as well as with the plans which Forum NGOs planning to realize in the following period, aiming at solving the most relevant problems in the region. January 25, 2008 | The public debate “Serbia and Europe!” was held at the Lingua Centre on January 25, within the youth program Initiative, Sense and Conscience. Vladimir Pavicevic, Junior Assistant, Faculty of Political Sciences, University in Belgrade was guest lecturer. Mr. Pavicevic spoke about European integration principles, European future of our society and European values. December 16, 2007 | The public debate “Youth, religion and state” was held at the Lingua Centre on December 14. Professor Dr. Milan Vukomanovic, professor of Sociology of Religion at the Faculty of Philosophy, Belgrade was the guest lecturer. Approximately 60 citizens, mostly young people, attended the debate. The debate “Youth, Religion and State” attracted most attention both from participants and the media. Photo

December 5, 2007 | International Volunteer Day - 5 December was marked at the Lingua centre, in the presence of volunteers and children engaged in the programme “Friend in Need”. It was stressed that volunteers and voluntary work play an important social role in modern society. In 1985, the United Nations General Assembly proclaimed 5 December as International Volunteer Day for Economic and Social Development. The goal of marking International volunteer day is to raise public awareness about volunteerism and volunteer work.

November 27, 2007 | The Society for Active Life of the Third Age Generation from the republic of Slovenia invited coordinators of Women’s Workshop and Info desk of Lingua centre, and two Lingua beneficiaries, IDPs to take part in the International Cultural Event “Zdravlje v jeseni”. The event was held in Slovenian town Mislinje from 24-26 November 2007. Lingua beneficiaries IDPs exhibited handmade crafts, made at the Lingua women’s workshop in the selling crafts exhibition, performed traditional songs from Kosovo and prepared traditional food. On that occasion, participants established contacts and exchanged experiences. Apart from the Lingua representatives, representatives of the Women’s Associations from the Republic of Slovenia (Slovengradec and Velenje) took part in the event, as well as the large number of representatives for different towns. November 9, 2007 | A public debate on subject Media freedom in Serbia was held at the Lingua centre on November 9. The guest lecturer was Ph.D. Rade Veljanovski, professor of journalism at the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade. Rade Veljanovski was Deputy General Manager of Radio Television Serbia for Radio Belgrade and member of the working group which drafted the Broadcast Act. Professor Rade Veljanovski is one of founder of the Independent Association of Serbian Journalists (NUNS). November 6, 2007 |The Olof Palme International Centre organized a network meeting for Palme center partners in the Western Balkan. The meeting took place in Tirana, Albania from 31st October to 4th November. Palme Centre representatives Head of Development Cooperation Birgitta Silén, Program manager Johanna Leander, Program manager for method development Victor Astrom, as well as local coordinators Palme Center B&H, Palme Center Albania, Palme Center Serbia and Palme Center Kosovo attended the network meeting. This meeting focused on methods of evaluation and follow-up of project activities.
Coordinator of the Lingua Youth programs, Jelena Cekanovic, attended a network meeting together with 50 representatives from partner and potential new partner organizations in the region, (from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, Montenegro, Serbia and Macedonia). November 6, 2007 |The municipality forum on the topic: "How to provide security that suits citizens best" has been held at the Lingua centre, within the program “Increasing Citizen Participation in Security Policy”.Apart from the representatives of the Centre for Civil-Military Relations, Zorana Atanasovic and Marko Savkovic, as well as Marina Kovačević-Lepojević, Victimology society of Serbia, the representatives of the Lingua NGO, Nikola Mikaric and Aleksandar Jovanovic also participated in work of forum. They have discussed about security issues from the perspective of Kraljevo citizens. After the introduction, citizens of Kraljevo were given the opportunity to state their observations and dilemmas regarding the most important security threats in their environment and what they would like to see as the National Security Strategy priorities. The aim of the organizers (Centre for Civil-Military Relations form Belgrade and LINGUA) was to open up a discussion with citizens of Kraljevo regarding their view of security in the municipality, as well as priorities of the security policy on the national level. The Municipal forum is supported by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) through USAID grant, as a part of the project “Increasing citizen’s participation in the security policy”, which the Centre for Civil-Military Relations implements, in cooperation with local CSOs. October 25, 2007 |NGO Group 484 held the consultative meeting within the project Civil Society Focal Points for the Implementation of the PRS in Serbia. The meeting took place at the Lingua Centre, on October 25, 2007. The participants were representatives of NGOs, refugee associations, IDPs associations, IDPs and refuges. The discussion focused on problem-solving and operational solutions, in order to implement those solutions in the annual Operational Plan of Action of the involved line ministries. Photo

October 5, 2007 |The Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), American NGO, funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which implements The Civil Society Advocacy Initiative program, presented a grant competition for experienced Civil Society Organizations at the Lingua Centre. Representatives of ISC, Nick Green Deputy Chief of Party, Bogdan Gavanski Grants Officer, Sandra Stanic Grants Manager, Vera Ivkovic Administration and Finance Director presented a grant competition for support CSOs advocacy activities throughout Serbia. 30 NGOs representatives from Central and Western Serbia attended presenataion. September 29, 2007 |The public debate named “Political termidor- prosecution of political enemies”- was held at the Lingua Centre within the ISAC program (Initiative, Sense and Conciseness). Guest lecturer, this time, was Mr. Slobodan Gavrilovic sociologist. September 3, 2007 | From September 1st 2007, onwards Lingua NGO had started the realization of the new youth program named "Initiative, Sense and Conscience"(ISAC). The target group of the ISAC program are young people age 15-30. The purpose of ISAC project is to increase the awareness about the significant role of the young as a driving force of modern society and the democratic reforms in the society. Every weekend a video session on human rights and freedoms will be organised at the in Lingua centre for the public. Every month at the Lingua centre public debates and discussion will be held, with the distinguished guests from the field of politics, sociology and journalism. The activities in the project will motivate the younger population to take an active part in the creation of a society in which they would like to live, as well as to contribute to spreading of the civil awareness and the development of the civil society. The Norwegian People’s Aid- SEE with 12,000 EUR financially supports this program.
July 12, 2007 | Delegation of Norwegian Peoples Aid - Regional Office South East Europe, consisted of Mrs Ivana Kahrmann, Regional Programme Manager for Media and Democratisation and Mrs Milica Krstanovic, Programme Coordinator visited Lingua Centre in Kraljevo. The coordinators of the programs acquainted delegation with the programs which Lingua NGO currently realising. Same day, a contract was signed between NPA SEE and Regional Centre of Civic Action LINGUA, for the project activities in Kraljevo area. From August 1st 2007 until May 2008, Lingua will implement six activities that are targeting IDP and refugee population in Kraljevo region. Activities that will include about 10.000 IDPs and refugees are: Cooperation with the Local Self-Governance, Medical advisory; IDPs and refugees NGOs foundation, Volunteer's Centre (“A Friend in Need”), Women's Workshop and Info Centre. NPA is donating 69.000.00 EUR for the implementation of the above mentioned activities.
July 5, 2007 | Representatives of European Union Monitoring Mission, office in Novi Pazar, visited Lingua Centre. Radovan Milicevic, Program manager of Forum NGOs, at meeting with representatives of EUMM, was explain his attitude about political situation in Serbia, media freedom, human right situation in Serbia, IDPs problems, human rights of non-Albanians peoples in Kosovo, as well as attitude about solving Kosovo problem.
May 19, 2007 | In organization of Julie Biro, French catholic Comity against Hunger and for Development (CCFD) Project officer for Central and Eastern Europe. Radovan Milicevic, Program manager and Aleksandar Jovanovic, Assistant of Forum NGO, were at 14 and 15.05.2007 in two-day visit at Kosovo. During the visit, representatives of Forum NGO met with Snezana Karadzic, president of NGOs network Zora, who introduced them with activities of NGO network Zora. Exchange of experience realized also with chief of office of Fond for Humanitarian Rights, Bekim Blakaj and representatives of Forum of Roma’s and Askalias peoples from North Mitrovica. During the visit, at Pristine, Ugljarevo, Caglavica, Gracanica and North Mitrovica, Forum NGO representatives was made agreement about cooperation with these Kosovo non-government organization, with accent on human rights of non Albanian population on Kosovo, possibility of returns IDPs from Kosovo (settled in Serbia), as well as programs of economic strengthening of beneficiaries of Kosovo’s NGOs. Discussion was focused on the topic "Facing With The Future". The large number of the visitors has shown that the young people were very interested in current social issues. April 13, 2007 | A public discussion entitled Future of Civil Society in Serbia was held at the Lingua centre, within the program ISAC (Initiative Sense and Consciences). Guest lecturer was Zarko Paunovic, founder and perennial director of the Centre for the Development of the Non-Profit Sector in Belgrade, manger of the Faculty of Political Sciences of the University of Belgrade. Guest-lecturer provided many useful information regarding development and current state of the NGO sector. Zarko Paunovic explained the relation of the state institutions towards NGOs and answered various questions that arise in defining and the analysis of NGOs acting in modern society. General conclusion of this public lecture is that NGOs and free associating of citizens are necessary. NGOs has shown that they are necessary for this society and that is not possible to establish a modern, democratic system without their participation. Photo

March 26, 2007 | Activists of Forum NGO distributed more than 10000 letters addressed to Boris Tadic to the citizens in a street action called “Veto Kostunica”, held on the town square. His responsibility today is to bring the decision and ours is to dissolve the dilemma for him and for everyone- for whom the democratic Serbia voted. Activists and volunteers of Forum NGO invited the citizens to send the letters to president and to remind him why life cannot wait, within the street action, which aim was to prevent the implosion of democracy in Serbia.
